A bit reminiscent of Nero dancing as Rome burns...

Some folks might be aware that over the past few days there has been a storm brewing around the Houses of Rome, formerly known as RomeDAO, regarding the seemingly attempted liquidation (possibly still in the works by a sus group of bad actors) of the project’s ~$20 million Treasury.

We can see here, https://forum.romedao.finance/t/open-discussion-rfc-redemption-of-excess-treasury/527, under the initial Post by a “zero_bias” where the suggestion and details/musings thereof were first published. A little further down we can see a reply to the original post by “SempContributors” whom are later confirmed to be Sempronia Contributors. House of Sempronia is comprised of DEVs, Engineers/Coders; core team members…the very folks responsible for building “the game”. “The Sempronia team tends to agree with the original poster that returning treasury assets is a logical step.”
There is an @DFCDog (twitter handle) individual involved who is allegedly known to have been part of opportunistic takeovers/liquidations of treasuries before. I’ve heard he and a group of associates go throwing their bags around, essentially strong arming governance.

This all comes off as some sort of modern crime noir novel, appearing to be a salty investor presenting a well thought out solution to Down BadOR maybe it is what it appears to be: a money grab in sheep's clothing. The anon team that put this whole project together could be pulling a fast one in order to exit with millions of dollars after potentially having done no real work. All while making it look somewhat legit, possibly by having a token holder author the original post only to come in afterward and suggest in a no nonsense matter that***“returning treasury assets”*** as a solution would be a***“logical step”***. At the same time, people like Donnie aka DonnieBigBags and anyone else still invested take a potential forced loss depending on their initial investment entry if anything like that proposal passes.

In this scenario, they already got ~$100k/month for a while now, why not just cut the con, leave with a few mil to split and give the rest back to the community in a manner constructed such that it makes everyone appear innocent or at the very least, not malicious?

Donnie, a prominent DotSama community member, figurehead, builder and commentator went into the Houses of Rome discord looking for some answers, transparency, and accountability and in my opinion, was met with a lot of deflecting, gas lighting and a bit of hostility (if not hostility then just plan stonewalling) by Representatives of Houses of Rome who were present at the time.

Actions have already been taken to satisfy Donnie’s curiosity, regardless of whether the representatives of Houses of Rome discord present at the time were helpful/forthcoming or not. Hopefully, I’m super wrong about the way it appears! Hopefully, the team can weather the storm and prove this pulp nothing but fiction and any other false assertion wrong. The sad truth though, indeterminate of the outcome, is that this is just another in a long line of controversies and inconsistencies stemming from the core team of Houses of Rome due to a perceived lack of proper management and community engagement.
