Khala XCM Integration will Bring a Suite of Confidential Computing Services to the Crab Ecosystem!

Darwinia, the cross-chain messaging infrastructure for decentralized applications, has announced the new HRMP channels have been opened between Crab Parachain and Khala, and the CRAB token and PHA token will be available on each other’s networks soon. The CRAB token is being integrated and will be used into SubBridge, the first cross-chain router in the substrate ecosystem built by Phala, based on the “XCM + ChainBridge cross-chain protocol” to realize cross-chain transmission of assets and information, bridging parachain with EVM and other chains.

The current integration introduces token transfer between two chains, future will allow for full interoperability, enabling smart contracts on Crab to take advantage of Khala’s suite of confidential computing services, while Khala can also take advantage of Darwinia Universal Cross-Chain Messaging SDK to implement cross-chain development.

The XCM integration between Crab Parachain and Khala was enacted through remote on-chain governance votes, which is definitely the first substrate-to-substrate cross-chain messaging/remote governance that has been achieved in the Polkadot ecosystem! We’ve successfully achieved the remote governance of Crab Parachain by Crab Chain through the Darwinia Message Bridge, and we’ll continue to use the remote governance method to open the HRMP channels between Crab Parachain and other parachains in the future.

Phala Network tackles the issue of trust in the computation cloud.

By organizing a decentralized network of computation nodes around the world, it offers high-performance services without relying on any cloud vendor. Phala workers run the programs in Secure Enclaves, a privacy technology already embedded into modern processors, enabling versatile and confidential execution. Together, this creates the infrastructure for a powerful, secure, and scalable trustless computing cloud.

Khala, which is responsible for the technical and economic testing of Phala Network (also known as the Phala Network on Kusama), went live in September 2021. The economic models of the Phala and Khala networks have now been merged after Gemini Upgrade. Khala and Phala share the same responsibility for the overall network operations, providing decentralized cloud computing capabilities.

Darwinia is a cross-chain messaging infrastructure, which provides a light client-based, programmable, universal cross-chain messaging network for decentralized applications. Now, we’ve successfully used Darwinia’s light-client cross-chain messaging protocol(LCMP) to bridge cross-chain messages between substrate-based chains, and even between substrate-based chains and EVM chains, meanwhile, Darwinia provides developers with the SDK, and developers can easily integrate cross-chain capabilities into their Dapps. This will have profound implications for cross-chain interoperability, and Darwinia will as a cross-chain messaging infrastructure to prompt the building of a hybrid cross-chain network for Polkadot.

Crab is a canary network with real economic value for Darwinia, positioning similar to Polkadot’s Kusama Network, which is a programmable cross-chain platform for Dapps. It is substrate-based, EVM-compatible, and connected to Kusama.

Darwinia Network is a highly-secure programmable cross-chain messaging infrastructure for decentralized applications. Our light-client cross-chain messaging protocol (LCMP) supports arbitrary message passing between Substrate chains, and between Substrate and EVM chains, and SDK empower developers with the tools necessary to build the next generation of Web3 applications and seamless user experiences even when transacting across multiple chains or protocols.

Darwinia as a cross-chain messaging infrastructure will facilitate the building of a hybrid cross-chain network for Polkadot.
