  • Referendum 35, proposing to modify the Polkadot runtime code but providing no contextual information, did not pass. 
  • Referendum 39, proposing to start the first two batches of parachain auctions on Polkadot, passed. 
  • Referendum 40, proposing to reduce the maximum number of validators in the active set to 259, is currently failing by a wide margin. 
  • Motion 119, which would fund a Treasury Proposal for Pinknode to create an improved dashboard for managing infrastructure, has passed Council vote.
  • Motion 120, which would fund a Treasury Proposal for OnFinality's High-Performance Public Infrastructure, has passed Council vote.
  • Polkassembly now has a section for Council members to add information about themselves. This can help you make an informed choice when voting for Council members.

  • Ledger-Kusama app is still working on a fix to the recent problems with the runtime upgrade on Kusama, you can follow the latest convo on the open issue on GitHub here.
  • A good example of why a value-bearing canary network like Kusama can help find problems! A tale of an XCM exploit shut down and fixed via Kusama governance.
  • The first crowdloan for the next set of auctions has begun.

🦅 🏛 Governance

  • Motion 375 passed council vote—the proposal by Opensquare aims to extend the functionalities of Statescan to support uniques-pallet for NFTs.
  • Motion 382, to fix a timing error in the original motion to start Kusama auctions, was passed.

  • Khala Network officially approved the Proposal which enables Khala-Ethereum Bridge on Khala.
  • Bifrost launched on Karura Swap with over 200k BNC in liquidity mining rewards.
  • OnFinality released a September report.
  • SubQuery launched the SubQuery Academy.
  • Rococo has been revamped from a parity-controlled testnet into a community-owned parachain testbed.
  • DApp Staking is LIVE on Shiden Network #Builde2Earn
  • Shiden partners with AnySwap.

  • Acala announced Liquid Crowdloan DOT (lcDOT) to give Polkadot Crowdloan Participants ongoing access to their DOT liquidity.
  • Moonbeam announced a partnership with myNFT, the upcoming NFT creative workshop, trading platform, and discovery engine.
  • The Beta version of Zeitgest app is ready. In Zeitgeist Beta, you’ll be able to trade on pre-curated Prediction Markets and even create your own. Register here.
  • Squad Game is Manta Network’s token event that is exclusively available for the Manta community. If you are a Calamari Network Crowdloan participant who has contributed at least 0.5 KSM, then you are qualified for the exclusive Round 1 whitelist.
  • Composable integrated Moonriver into the Mosaic PoC Bridge. Adding MoonriverNW to Mosaic by Composable Finance will allow users to be able to transfer assets between any project deployed on these aforementioned platforms. Details.
  • Integritee to collaborate with KILT Protocol for SocialKYC authentication.
  • Mangata Finance introduced Themis Protocol — a solution to MEV (Miner Extractable Value). This solution is optimized for DEX-specific blockchains but may serve as inspiration for wider app-specific use cases.

🌎 Community & Ecosystem

  • Sub0 is now over, but you can still watch the recordings posted on Parity Technologies YouTube. Here are days 1 and 2.
  • The Polkadot Hackathon Global series is starting with the APAC region and is due to start on October 22nd, and will take submissions till December 12th. 
  • Substrate Developer Hub and Substrate.io merged for a one-stop-shop for all things Substrate, including a new design for documentation.
  • The Substrate Seminar has a new landing page. It's the place to learn about developing with Substrate, as well as meeting and discussing Substrate with other developers. 
  • There's a great overview of Gossamer, the Go version of the Polkadot Host, written by Dan Forbes, now available. 
  • Binance, Huobi Global, and Kraken announced support Polkadot Parachain Slot Auctions.
