DotLeap 67 - New Year, Same ol' Dot

Polkadot Updates

🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain

total supply - 1.1540 BDOT || staking - 53.3% || parachains - 9.26% (~109m DOT)

  • Congratulations to Efinity for winning the sixth parachain auction.

🔴 🏛 Governance

  • Nova Foundation published a post seeking feedback for a potential Treasury Proposal from Nova Foundation for Omni, a desktop enterprise Polkadot application.
  • Polkadot India published a post seeking feedback for a potential Treasury Proposal for a series of Polkadot India webinars and a Substrate bootcamp.
  • Markian | Supercolony published a post seeking feedback for a potential Treasury Proposal for a Smart Contracts on Polkadot Wasm Conference. This has now been submitted as Motion 138.
  • Referendum 44, with no contextual information provided, failed.  Interestingly, if you don’t take conviction into account, more DOT has voted in favor of this referendum than against. Even if conviction was not taken into account, however, due to adaptive quorum biasing, the required supermajority would not have been reached.
  • There are 16 tips outstanding - Polkadot Councillors, please be sure to vote on these.

Kusama Updates ₑₓₚₑcₜ cₕₐₒₛ

🦅 ⭕️ Relay Chain

total supply - 11.8mil KSM || staking - 42.8% || parachains - 25.5%

  • Crust Shadow and Robonomics have won the preceding two parachain slot auctions.

🦅 🏛 Governance

  • The Acala Foundation’s proposal to open an HRMP connection between Statemine and Karura has been approved.
    Note that not all HRMP channel openings require a vote on the relay chain. Since Statemine is governed by the relay chain, however, any HRMP channels with it will require the relay chain to authorize opening.
  • BrightTreasury has published information on a maintenance proposal on their own app. You can leave feedback on the Treasury Proposal there.
  • There are 21 Tips outstanding - Kusama Councillors, please be sure to vote on these.
  • The Moonbeam Foundation published a proposal to open an HRMP connection between Statemine and Moonriver. This is currently being voted on as Referendum 164.
  • Motion 415 to fund Nomi, a decision support tool for Nominators, was approved by the council.
