Polkadot Updates

šŸ”“ ā•ļø Relay Chain

total supply - 1.17b DOT || staking - 54.3% || parachains - 11%

  • Polkadot 0.9.17 has been released with LOW upgrade priority.Ā
  • RadiumBlock now provides Kusama and Polkadot database snapshots, in both ParityDB and RocksDB format, to more quickly synchronize nodes with the network.Ā
  • Interlay (parathread ID 2032) won the latest parachain slot auction.Ā

šŸ”“ šŸ› Governance

  • Referendum 51, setting the minimum nomination amount to 160 DOT, passed and was executed. Due to a technical issue with the way the initial proposal was entered, Referendum 52 was opened for the community to vote, after vote by council: and was passed and executed.Ā  Note that this does not mean that anyone currently staking with < 160 DOT is automatically chilled. Rather, new nominations with < 160 DOT will not be able to stake, and anyone with < 160 DOT can be chilled. The lowest 1,500 nominators (measured in terms of DOT bonded) have been chilled.
  • Motion 159, to fund BrightTreasury for v2.0 improvements, passed and was executed.
  • Motion 154, electing a curator for the Polkadot Pioneers Prize bounty, passed and was executed.Ā
  • Motion 155, authorizing Treasury funding for PolkaWorld ops and maintenance for March through May 2022, passed and was executed.Ā
  • Motion 160, to authorize a Treasury Proposal for funding the Cloudflare Enterprise plan for Subscan, passed and was executed.
  • Motion 161, to authorize a Treasury Proposal for funding other infrastructure costs for Subscan from Sep to Dec 2021, passed and was executed.
  • Motion 163 passed Council vote. This is a batch call proposal, combining the Polkadot upgrade with the Statemint upgrade: The Polkadot runtime aims to be upgraded to v9170 - Release notes, runtime changes and proposal hash can be found HERE. Statemint runtime will be upgraded to v700. The proposal is now in external queue, if TC fast-tracks then the community will vote in referenda queue.
  • There are 2 bounties currently set up with no explanatory information on Polkassembly. If you are behind one of these Bounties, consider describing what you are trying to do.Ā

Kusama Updates ā‚‘ā‚“ā‚šā‚‘cā‚œ cā‚•ā‚ā‚’ā‚›

šŸ¦… ā•ļø Relay Chain

total supply - 12.03m KSM || staking - 43.1% || parachains - 31%

  • Mangata X won the 26th slot auction on Kusama.
  • The 27th auction has started and we are now in the initial phase of it. The ending period will begin at block #11,619,600.

šŸ¦… šŸ› Governance

  • Referendum 175, to reduce the validationUpgradeCooldown from 14,400 to 3,600 blocks, passed and was executed.Ā
  • Referendum 176, setting a minimum validator commission of 3%, passed.Ā When fully implemented, no validator will be able to set a commission less than 3%. This ensures that running a validator node is financially sustainable for all those in the active set.
  • Referendum 177, to upgrade the Kusama relay chain to v9170, passed.Ā
  • Motion 439, to fund a governance rewards proposal, passed.Ā This proposal funds a project that automatically rewards all voters with an NFT at the end of a referendum.
  • The Opensquare team published a bounty proposal for consideration: aiming to implement a group of business oriented explorers and Dapps to help users better understand and work with Dotsama. Further goals of the proposal are to educate more developers by implementing the explorers and dapps features with child bounties and to seek ways to facilitate collaborations between projects and external developers in the polkadot ecosystem. For scope of work of the bounty, budget and curation suggestions, please visit this post.
  • A proposal aiming to fund Blockathon DAO pilot - Public goods learn + build 2 earn: a 3 weeks long learning program with a final competitive Blockathon. The goal is:
    • To help Substrate teams identify talent
    • To help talent to find opportunities in the Substrate ecosystem
    • To increase the awareness of Substrate amongst a high quality curated audience.
      More info on the proposal can be found on the post.
