Polkadot Updates

🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain

total supply - ~1.19b DOT | staking - 53.4% | parachains & crowdloans - 11%

  • Litentry has won the most recent parachain slot auction. 

🔴 🏛 Governance

  • Referendum 59, to unbrick the Phala parachain, is passing by a wide margin. 
  • Motion 190, proposing to fund the 2022 Summer Polkadot Hackathon by OneBlock in China, is currently under consideration by the Polkadot Council. 
  • Motion 191, to issue a batch proposal to upgrade Polkadot to runtime v9190 and Statemint to runtime v900, was passed and executed—it is know up for vote by the community as Referendum 60. If approved, the proposal will be enacted in block #10,156,856.
  • Motion 192, to lower the HRMP channel deposits on Polkadot from about 20,000 DOT to 1,000 DOT, is up for a vote. This is a change that was supposed to be included in the runtime upgrade, but was missed by the team. If approved, this will go to community vote as well.
  • There is a proposal to port the Substrate tip bot to the Polkadot-JS repository, as well, allowing users to be tipped for PRs and other contributions to the Polkadot-JS codebase. 
  • Treasury Funding for Dwellir for their RPC service has been approved by the Polkadot Council.

  • Dora Factory has won the most recent parachain slot auction. 

🦅 🏛 Governance

  • Referendum 188, to open an HRMP channel between Statemine and Parallel Heiko, did not pass. The team has now opened a Public Proposal 64 for the community to vote again on this issue.
  • Referendum 189, upgrading the Kusama Relay Chain to runtime v9190 has been passed and executed. 
  • Referendum 190, to force_transfer 63 KSM from an invalid para account to Parallel Heiko’s sovereign account, is currently failing with a turnout of 0.12%. 
  • Referendum 191, to upgrade Statemine's runtime to v900, is up for vote.
  • Motion 459, to fund a referendum dashboard Treasury Proposal, was approved. 
  • Motion 460, to fund DoTreasury and Statescan maintenance, was passed and executed. 
  • Motion 462, to fund the Polkascan Foundation to develop the Polkascan Calendar, an open-source application to view events in Substrate-based chains, is under consideration by the Kusama Council. 
  • Motion 463, to fund a Treasury Proposal for production of educational tutorial videos about Polkadot and Kusama in Spanish, is under consideration by the Kusama Council. 
  • Motion 465, to make RMRK a sufficient token on Statemine—which means that it would not need an additional small amount of KSM in each account to exist—is up for a vote.
  • Proposal 63 is a test proposal to be used for tutorials and other documentation by the W3F Technical Education team.
