  • A new version of Polkadot is out with an upgrade priority of MEDIUM.
  • Nomination pools on Polkadot are scheduled to go live with the activation of runtime 9290, approximately mid-late November. v9280 runtime upgrade, up for vote now, includes nomination pools to the business logic, but a governance proposal is needed to configure them to go live.

🔴 🏛 Governance

  • Referendum 73, proposing to upgrade the Statemint runtime to v9270, has passed and executed.
  • Motion 259, to fund Milestone 2 of the EasyA Polkadot Hackathon, was passed.
  • Motion 260, to fund community involvement at Token2049, was approved.
  • Motion 261, to upgrade the Polkadot Runtime to v9280, is up for a vote.
  • There is a post seeking feedback on increasing the minimum nomination limit (note that this does not impact the minimum to receive staking rewards). This is to make nomination pools, which should be coming soon to Polkadot, more attractive and reduce individual nominations.
  • There is a post seeking feedback on a potential Treasury Proposal for a San Francisco Blockchain Week Polkadot Summit.
  • ChainSafe has published a proposal for continuing development of the Gossamer Polkadot Host implementation (written in Go) using Treasury funds.

  • Referendum 228, proposing to upgrade Kusama to runtime 9280, was passed and executed.
  • Referendum 229, a proposal which was admitted to be a mistake by the originator, is failing with 3% in favor with almost four days left to vote.
  • Per Treasury Proposal 164, Polkascan Explorer has been open-sourced.
  • There is a post seeking feedback for a potential Treasury Proposal for a Polkadot Search Indexer and RPC endpoints.
  • BitCountry Pioneer has won the most recent parachain lease auction.
  • The GM Parachain Team is requesting more feedback on KICRA: Kusama Innovation Cost Reduction Act 2022 discussion, that can be found here.
  • The proposal for Sub.ID is also up for discussion: the team aims to provide quick and convenient access to all your Substrate addresses, balances and other assets in one place.
  • OnFinality published a proposal for discussion by the community explaining their new service sustainability options: these changes are designed to allow the team to transition to a more sustainable future and many of their parachain customers are migrating to a model where they put in place lower rate limits for the public API endpoint. The team is seeking feedback on how the community prefers to structure future maintenance proposals for their service.
