Bedside Monsters: A Unique Singular Project

As a father, and former child myself – much to the disbelief of my 5-year-old son, I have some intimate knowledge when it comes to checking under the bed for monsters. Perhaps it’s just me, but the kind of monsters that lurked beneath my bed, or in the dark recesses of my room, as a child were those that might run a knife through my bowels while I slept.

Admittedly, I was a bit of an odd child, but there must have been a time, a more innocent time, when the monsters in my mind weren’t blood thirsty killers with a penchant for gruesome evisceration. Well, that’s where Elly’s Bedside Monsters collection comes in, but there is much more to this collection than just a glimpse of nostalgia.

The Collection

Though the goal of the project is to take people back to their childhood and evoke those fond memories of the past, there is another interesting angle to these NFTs. You see, as far as I know, this is the first animated generative collection. Now, admittedly, I’m a bit unsure of the technical and creative know-how it would take to pull off such a thing, but I think it is one of the features that really makes this collection stand out. While other collections have done either animated NFTs or generative NFTs, basically NFTs created from select bits randomly assembled to give each one a unique look, this is the first project to combine both.

So, if you know how these kinds of NFTs work, you will know that basically you buy an NFT, usually an egg or something to that effect, you then destroy it and receive a randomly generated unique creation. Additionally, for those that would like something special you can try to grab up one of Elly’s 25 special monsters – these are truly unique creations and as with other non-generative NFTs what you see is what you get.

Collection on Singular

Rarity

Now for a word about rarity. As with most NFT collections, you will find certain traits are rarer than others. In the world of Bedside Monsters, you will receive a monster with a rarity from 1 to 3 stars based on the attributes of your monster at generation; however, the 25 special monsters have a rarity of 3 stars. The collection contains 500 eggs, containing surprise monster creations, and 25 unique creations which you can find for sale on singular. If you would like to see what the possibilities look like for the generative creations head on over to Elly’s singular page and check out collection numbers 1, 100, 212, and 268.

Community

The Bedside Monster community is active on twitter where Elly (@Elwiruz // https://twitter.com/elwiruz) shares news about collaborations as well as runs events, giveaways, and auctions where community members can win special prizes. Recently, Bedside Monster holders were rewarded with a special animated banner from well known NFT artist Archiverse. Elly tells me that she has completed 13 of 25 planned collaborations, so we know that there is a lot more fun to come for this collection.

What’s Next?

Elly seems like a fun and creative person, she tells me she enjoys sewing and knitting when she is not drawing, so I have no doubt that she will continue to show us her imaginative creations as they are completed. There is also the hint of something special to come as she is planning on a composible collection in the not-too-distant future. I for one am extremely excited to see what she will accomplish and wish her the best of luck.
