Nova Wallet Banks on Subsquid for Product Evolution

Subsquid prides itself on being suitable for just about any type of protocol or product in the Polkadot ecosystem, and we are especially happy about our latest integration with Nova Wallet. 🤝

Nova Wallet is a next generation iOS/Android application for the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem that combines performance and security with a convenient UX/UI to offer users a great experience on a decentralised network. Nova Wallet supports asset management on more than 15 networks in the Polkadot ecosystem as well as DOT/KSM staking and DOT/KSM crowdloans, making effective data management a critical part of its infrastructure.

Nova devs discovered that for some use cases, like fetching operations history, the blockchain alone cannot provide a convenient API when it comes to mobile implementation. This led to the Nova team seeking a data source that can be used to saturate the app with the relevant data, a search which ended when developers approached Subsquid. The Nova team were already aware of some of the advantages that Subsquid offers, such as fast indexing and the possibility to have GraphQL joint requests. They had a great time diving into Subsquid’s solution and experimenting with it for their own needs.

Implementing Subsquid allows Nova developers to experiment with existing use cases, such as operation history and staking analytics. They found that performance vastly improved compared to the existing solutions. Using Subsquid also allows for Nova to have a united data source for all the networks the Nova Wallet utilises, which provides a single page of all user’s operations across all networks. This has had a direct impact on the UX of Nova Wallet, allowing Nova users to have an even more outstanding experience.

Nova developers hope that the Nova Wallet will be the top mobile application for the Polkadot/Kusama ecosystem, and to achieve this they will need to keep up to speed with the growth of the space, including the new parachain networks, DApps, and collaborations. Using Subsquid will certainly help Nova developers on their mission, and the solution will also to be used within Nova Wallet’s parachain and XCM features, including operation history, cross-chain transfers, swaps, and more.
