The Subsquid Ambassador Program

The Open Ocean Council will be the body that represents the interests of the Subsquid project when it transitions into a DAO. This decentralized ‘Squid Squad’ will guide the direction of the project, ensuring that it represents the desires of the community, with decisions made democratically.

The OCC is made up of members of two teams — Team Abyss and Team Sonar. Team Abyss is responsible for the technical development of the Subsquid protocol, while Team Sonar is in charge of promoting the project on social media and welcoming new supporters to the Subsquid community channels.

Election to the Open Ocean Council is achieved by completing tasks related to each team’s directives — for example the number of Github commits or social media interactions — with each month’s top performers getting the chance to join the council. In just the one month since the launch of the OOC website, we have seen some fantastic contributions.

We’ve been really impressed by the commitment and positivity shown by our members surrounding the project, and it’s really helped us get our name out there. As a result of these aspects moving ahead very nicely, we are starting to turn our attention to the next stage in Subsquid‘s DAO ambitions.

The Open Ocean Council is the incubator for what will become the The Subsquid Open Ocean Council (OOC) launched just one month ago, and we have been amazed with the levels of hard work and creativity that we have seen in such a short space of time. The OOC will guide the direction of Subsquid as it transitions into a DAO, ensuring that the development of the protocol is in line with the views of the Subsquid community. 🔥

The OCC is made up of members of two teams — Team Abyss and Team Sonar. Team Sonar is in charge of promoting Subsquid on social media and welcoming new followers to the Subsquid community channels, while Team Abyss is responsible for the technical development of the protocol.

In order for the OOC to meet its ambitions we need to achieve two key goals — automate internal processes and broaden the membership of the OOC to have a more global feel. We have already set about the automation process with our QMS automation bot, and now we want to extend the reach of the OOC community by recruiting a number of Subsquid ambassadors.

As a Subsquid ambassador you will represent Subsquid within your regional community, so applicants should be familiar with local customs when it comes to such communities. Examples of contributions you could make include content such as blog posts, videos, and social media posts publicising Subsquid, or arranging and hosting meetups in your region. We would also like you to attend conference calls with the Subsquid team, other ambassadors, and the OOC to check on progress and share ideas. Those who are able to code may also be required to contribute to the code base from time to time.

In return for their efforts, Subsquid Ambassadors will get exclusive rewards such as SQD tokens, priority access to Subsquid events and NFT drops, and some sweet Subsquid swag. You will also have the benefit of being able to grow your network to include some of the smartest individuals in the blockchain space. This is a great opportunity to have a big impact on the development of the Subsquid protocol and the DAO.

How to Apply

So how do you become a Subsquid Ambassador? First, you’ll need to visit the Ambassador program page and get a better idea of the ins and outs of the role to make sure that it’s right for you. If you’re still keen, then the next stage is an interview with the Subsquid team, followed by the completion of two OCC quests or a proposal for a unique community-building initiative, such as a local meetup, social media campaign or something else, within your first month as a candidate.

If all this goes smoothly, you will be invited to your first Ambassador meeting where you will be officially sworn in as a Subsquid Ambassador, after which you can take your community-building skills out into the wild and tell the world about Subsquid! 🦑
