The Great Escape V 2.0: play on your phone!

The Apes had quite some fun since the delivery of V 1.5 last December. In just 3 months, both the average number of weekly players and weekly game sessions roughly doubled!

Players can now rent NFTs on Double to access the game, use JPTS to get in-game boosts, all the while enjoying incentivized rewards and even fire bananas to kill the enemies on the map.

But the best is yet to come with the release of the Beta 2.0 version of the game scheduled for April 13th, 2023 (and 2 weeks earlier for the alpha testers).

The Great Escape V 2.0 will be mobile compatible, gas-less, and simply more fun to play with new features including among others monthly tournaments for the most active players and achievements to unlock.

Let’s delve into the details of what our Jungle has in store for this major upgrade.

📱 Mobile app : enjoy the Great Escape without interruptions whenever and wherever you want.

Yes! You will finally be able to play the Great Escape on your phone! The browser version of the game will remain available, but players will also have the option to play the game on their phones using our app.

An alpha testing session of the app will take place from March 30th and April 11th, 2023 for a small number of handpicked players (more on this below), while the Beta Release of the app will be made available to the public on April 13th, 2023.

As registering with Google Play and the App Store can be a lengthy process, the app will first become available as a standalone .apk app downloadable on our website.

Shortly after that, we will make the app available from Google play as a testing program. Once everything runs smoothly on Android, we will then be working on porting the app for IOS devices.

☄️ Going gas-less: better, faster and cheaper!

The new version of the Great Escape will bring a totally new user on-boarding flow, built around account abstraction using the latest developments in the EVM world! Basically, you will be able to access our game from your browser or your smartphone, simply by clicking on an email link.

This new architecture will have significant positive impacts for the players:

First of all, because of the mobile app, you won’t have to wait for the game to load (on mobile). The mobile App will be fast. Then, players will be able to enjoy several sessions in a row without having to wait for the transaction confirmation (which takes about 11 to 12 seconds on Moonbeam). This is made possible by using “meta-transactions” from Biconomy SDK.

Second : transactions will now be free for users. We are implementing a gas-less solution in order to provide our players with GLMR that they would need to play our game sessions. Your overall ROI will be logically increased by this technological improvement which can be seen as an additional incentive to play.

In order to send gas-less and instant transactions but still enjoying full blockchain powers, your in-game assets (NFTs & tokens) will need to be bridged over a “Jungle Wallet”. This new smart-contract wallet will access the game on your behalf.

You will be able to control your Jungle Wallet (load and unload your assets, play the game) just by signing messages. Your rewards will still be claimable by using your public address, not on the Jungle Wallet.

The new version of the game contract will allow us to create temporary game passes to grant access to other communities and projects to the Great Escape V2.0.

The first integration is set to take place with the Moonwalkers NFT community of OG supporters of the DAM Finance project as part of our partnership with them.

The collaboration between our projects already saw the creation of a GLMB/d2o pool on Beamswap and the integration of d2o on Double Protocol in order for people the GLMJ and Badges NFTs needed to play the Great Escape.

More integrations with other collections will gradually take place over the next few months as these game passes will help the Great Escape to gain exposure to more communities and on-board news players.

🔓 Tired of waiting? Unlock your Apes!

A new option will be offered to players who wish to unlock their NFTs before the end of the 8h freezing period by paying a fee in GLMB.

The price of the unlocking will be based on the number of minutes of lock remaining and how often players use this option during the week.

The more unlocks a player uses, the pricier they will get. The idea is to allow small holders and infrequent players to have the chance to play again with their favorite character (in order to achieve a best single score for example). The unlock count of all players will reset to 0 once a week when the new map is launched.

Some “free GLMJ unlock” tickets will also be created and will be rewarded to players for unlocking some achievement or for playing several days in a row.

More features are also included in the game, but they will only be revealed in a couple weeks to keep some good surprises for the players.

However, some of you will get the chance to try these features before everyone else : the Alpha Testers.

🎮 Alpha Testers: involving the players in the game creation.

We’re looking at gathering a small group of 16 highly engaged players to help us try all the new features of the game before they can be implemented.

These players will receive an Alpha Tester NFT that will give them access to a dedicated section of our Discord server.

In concrete terms, it means that they will be the first one to gain access to the alpha version of the tournament on March 23rd and they will also be in charge of testing the alpha version of the mobile V2.0 app from March 30th, 2023 to April 11th, 2023.

As becoming an alpha tester requires a certain level of involvement, they will enjoy small periodical rewards for their work including (but not limited to) special tournament passes, JPTS, GLMB and GLMR.

On top of trying the new game features, alpha testers will also be in direct touch with the core building team to propose, suggest or recommend new game features and implementations.

To sum things up, Alpha testers will be the voice of the gamers and will ensure that the Great Escape remains a game made by the community and for the community of players.

As the player base grows, we will increase the number of Alpha testers spots available in order to be able to test simultaneously several features with different small sub-groups of testers.

🌴 How to become an Alpha Tester?

The short answer is pretty straightforward: just play the Great Escape game!

The in-game activity of the players from March 2nd to March 21st will be used to select the alpha testers. Each game session played during that period of time will count as 1 activity point for the player.

In the meantime, each active day (defined as a day where the player entered at least 1 game session) will offer an additional +3% multiplier on the final activity score.

Example:

Player A played 30 game sessions and was active for a total of 10 days between March 2nd and March 21st.

➡️ Activity score = 30x ( 1+(0.03x10)) = 30 x 1.3 = 39 activity points.

The 16 players with the most activity points will be invited to join the alpha testing group.

The selection process of the alpha testers can be seen as a sort of beta version of the selection process that will later take place to select the participants to the monthly tournaments.

🆚 Monthly Tournaments

The first alpha testing tournament will open this month for the 16 alpha testers only. Between March 23rd and March 26th, 2023 these selected players will play a prototype version of the tournament for 72h.

They will compete for a prize pool made of 5% of the combined prize pool from the 4 previous weeks.

We will collect the feedback from the alpha testers of the tournament and integrate it for the delivery of the first “real” version of the tournament that will take place at the end of April 2023.

The tournaments will initially take place every 4 weeks and be open to the 32 players who accumulated the most tournament points during the previous 4 weeks.

Tournament points will be obtained by playing game sessions, unlocking achievements, leveling up on your player’s profile or by getting a streak of active playing days.
