A simple solution for a big problem?

As I am trying to implement tools that encourage governance participation on our network, I frequently engage in discussions on the topic with fellow members of our community. We found that one of the main reasons why people are not voting is that they simply don't know about referenda going on. Without knowing about a referenda that is up for vote, we cannot expect people to vote on them!

I built (yes, you guessed it) a telegram bot that can be added to any group (or used in private) and sends out an alert whenever a new referendum is up for vote. The bot is extremely simple and that is by design! It only does one thing: send out a short alert (shown below) as a new referendum goes up for community vote.

Each alert has two buttons. One that leads the user to the PA post for the given referendum, allowing the user to get more information on what exactly is up for vote. And the second button bringing the user directly to the voting page for the referendum.

If we manage to spread this bot across the many Kusama related Telegram groups, we might just have a super simple solution to solve a very big problem. Not only are we conveniently notifying the community of the ongoing votes (in groups that they probably spend a significant amount of time in anyways) but are also providing a very convenient way to cast their vote right away! Coupled with the NFT rewards that voters are receiving, I am looking forward to seeing the impact on the referenda outcomes!

Let's spread it like wildfire!

Add the bot to your groups: @referendumAlertKusamaBot

then send a message with the following text in that group: /newReferendumBroadcastOn

To avoid spam and abuse, only admins of the group can run /newReferendumBroadcastOn and /newReferendumBroadcastOff

The code is open source.
